LEBANON — Another fatal motorcycle accident happened Saturday, bringing Maine’s total to 27 this year.

Matthew Goodwin, 26, of Somersworth, N.H., crashed his motorcycle at 10:40 p.m. at the intersection of Center and Lower Cross roads, according to a news release by Maine State Police spokesman Stephen McCausland. Goodwin was traveling west on his 2006 Suzuki 650 when he turned into the intersection as the bike skidded onto its side before colliding with multiple trees and rocks, McCausland said.

According to Maine State Trooper Jason Wing, the cause appeared to be speed and unfamiliarity with the road. A blood test will be done to determine if alcohol was involved.

Goodwin was pronounced dead at the scene by Lebanon Rescue, McCausland said.

Troopers are still trying to find out more information about Goodwin’s whereabouts and activities prior to the crash Saturday, McCausland said. Anyone with information should contact Maine State Police in Gray at 207-657-3030.
