AUBURN — Robert M. Simpson passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 7, surrounded by his loving family.
Rob was born in Portland, attended South Portland schools and went on to the University of New Hampshire on a full baseball scholarship.
In 1979, Rob married his high school sweetheart, Anne Dyro, and raised three children. He spent his career in transportation management, until 1989, when he bought a convenience store, which he and his wife ran for 10 years.
Rob was an avid sports fan, coaching his three children, as well as touching the lives of countless other young athletes.
Rob had a love for trivia, was quick-witted and was never at a loss for words.
He enjoyed having his family close by and making his famous “sauce” on Sunday. Having a full house was the way he liked it!
Rob leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Anne Dyro Simpson; two sons, Matthew Simpson and Stephen Simpson of Auburn; his daughter, Lauren Simpson and her partner, Kristie Morin, of Auburn; his mother, Joan Simpson of Scarborough; a sister, Lisa Simpson Effler of South Portland; a brother, Stephen Simpson and his wife, Lisa Dyro Simpson, of South Portland; and his only grandson, Mason Fontaine Simpson, with countless other nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
