1928 – 2015
AUBURN — Elmer A. Lausier, 87, of Auburn died on Sunday, Sept. 6, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family following a short illness.
He was born in Grand Isle on Jan. 29, 1928, the son of the late Thaddie and Mabel (Michaud) Lausier and had been a resident of this community for most of his life.
He served with the U.S. Coast Guard as a seaman first class from Aug. 30, 1945, until May 29, 1947.
He was employed for many years as an equipment operator for DL Punch Construction.
Elmer was an avid outdoorsman, having enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice-fishing, gardening, playing cards and gambling at the casino. He enjoyed this time with his family and his best friend, Pat Bosse.
He is survived by one son, David J. Lausier and his wife, Nancy, of Mechanic Falls; five daughters, Jackie Swift and her husband, Robert, of Standish, Jeannine Bubier and her husband, Jeff, of Poland, Janet Fongemie of Sanford, Sylvia Laflamme and her husband, Marcel, of Auburn and Kim Lausier and her companion, Khris Brooks, of Auburn; five brothers, Roland, Real, Edmond, Norman and Daniel; five sisters, Sr. Viola, Rita, Sr. Marie May, Cecile and Agathe; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Lausier; and five brothers, Emilio, Laurien, Albenie, Urbain and Joseph.
