LIVERMORE — Selectpersons voted unanimously Tuesday night to accept, with regret, a letter of resignation from highway foreman Roger Ferland.

Ferland has accepted a position as service manager at Bailey Brothers Ford in Livermore Falls.

He submitted the letter Aug. 26 and since then he and Administrative Assistant Carrie Castonguay have been discussing road projects planned for the fall. The River Road is almost complete and cold patch will be applied to several roads in the coming weeks.

“Thank you for everything you have done for the town,” Board of Selectpersons Chairman Peter Castonguay said.

Carrie Castonguay presented Ferland with several small gifts.

Ferland thanked her and the board and offered the board whatever help he could give.

Ferland was hired as interim road foreman April 14, 2011, the same day Don St. Laurent of Canton was fired from the position. The board advertised the position internally and interviewed two prospective candidates on May 9. Afterward, the board voted to keep Ferland in the position permanently.

Later at Tuesday’s meeting, the board later went into executive session to discuss the highway foreman position.
