FARMINGTON — A Chesterville man was injured Friday when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Routes 2 and 4 and Knowlton Corner Road, officials said.
The 1982 Honda Gold Wing driven by Peter Rines, 45, was trying to make a left-hand turn from Knowlton Corner Road onto Routes 2 and 4, known as Wilton Road, when it collided with a 2000 Chevy Cavalier driven by Boyd Bachelder, 68, of Phillips, Farmington police officer Ryan Rosie said.
Rines was not wearing a helmet and received injuries to his head.
It is not known whether Rines injured his head when he hit the car or when he hit the pavement, he said.
Rines was taken by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
His injuries were not life-threatening, Rosie said.
Both the motorcycle and the car received functional damage.
Rosie was assisted at the scene by Farmington police officers, Farmington Fire Rescue firefighters and NorthStar EMS ambulance medical personnel.
The four-lane highway was reduced to two lanes, with one lane open on each side of the road.
