1962 – 2015
WATERVILLE — Lisa S. Forsley, a longtime resident of Oakland and Waterville, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Aug. 31, after living a life full of happiness, love and compassion.
Lisa was born in Waterville on June 4, 1962, the daughter of Calvin and Patricia Stewart and later graduated from Waterville High School in 1981 while continuing to pursue further education and lifelong learning.
She married Rick Forsley on Nov. 25, 1988, in Waterville in the middle of an earthquake — which fortunately did not set the tone for more than 25 years of a loving partnership.
Lisa spent much of her time outdoors, whether exploring the dunes of Cape Cod, playing competitive softball, golfing or tending to her always-successful gardens. She enjoyed reading about nature, cooking and preparing for family get-togethers and relaxing in the sunshine. Lisa enjoyed Maine’s four seasons while also taking the time to escape the snow and visit Florida in the winter.
She regularly attended Catholic services in the Central Maine area and was an active member in local schools and volunteer efforts. For many years, she dedicated her time as a Sunday school teacher and was also a foster parent. She was very involved in the lives of her children, from chaperoning field trips, to attending sporting events and visiting them in college.
Lisa will be known for her selflessness and empathy for others — whether it was a neighbor, a co-worker or anyone in need — she was willing to lend a smile and provide helpful advice and wisdom. Her charm, sense of humor, passion for life and positivity will be greatly missed. Lisa proved to be a wonderful and loving caretaker for her father, Calvin, who passed away in 2012.
She is survived by her mother, Patricia Stewart; her husband, Rick; children, Hilary, Parker and Schara Mailhot; her brother, Stephen and his wife, Cathy; and sisters, Anne and partner, James, and Caroline and partner, John; along with many other loving family members.
