1926 – 2015

AUBURN — Anne Hagan, also known as Annie, Ma, Mom, Grammy, GG and Auntie Annie, died peacefully Monday, Aug. 24, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, with her family by her side.

She was born July 1, 1926, in Winslow, and was the daughter of Walter and Christine Fedorovich. She attended Winslow schools and graduated from Winslow High School.

She moved to Portland, where she raised her three daughters, and worked many years as a supervisor for Fairchild Semi­conductor and then for Key Bank as an encoder. Upon retiring, she loved being a volunteer driver for the People’s Regional Opportunity Program.

She was an avid antique collector, or shall we say, a collector of everything from paper bags with “important” logos to sconces to holiday decorations to spoons. You name it, she found a reason to collect it.

Anne’s home and heart had an open­-door policy, whether it was for foster children, friends or family. If someone needed to “hang his or her hat” for a while, then Anne’s house was the doorbell to ring. When friends and family would visit her, they would usually find her on the computer, shopping, working on picture or crossword puzzles or reading a mystery novel or The National Enquirer. She could tell you every Hollywood star, along with their latest spouse, child, arrest or movie.

She was a staunch Democrat, and our current governor’s name would not be mentioned in her presence, unless you wanted an earful.

In 1999, she moved from her home on Munjoy Hill to live with her daughter, Kristina and son­-in­-law, John. Their house was a haven of many pets and was surrounded by an abundance of wildlife, which she loved.

She is survived by her brother, John Fedorovich of Winslow; her daughters, Erlene Salldin and husband, John, of Lewiston, Kristina Cook and husband, John, of Raymond, and Leslie Hagan and husband, Raymond Cote, of Auburn; her grandchildren, Jason Allen and wife, Ryan, of Auburn, Eric Allen and companion, Heather Makrez, of Chelmsford, Mass., Erin Cloutier and husband, Marco, of Lewiston, Jenny Varughese and husband, Vimal, of White Plains, Md., Leah Estabrook and companion, Richard Howard, of Harrison and Christine Turner, who was like a granddaughter to her. She was blessed with 12 beautiful great-grandchildren, Madison, Emily, Dean, Lukas, Klara, Elsie, Jackson, Norah, Anna, Wyatt, Alivia and Sylvia; nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to the caring staff of Montello Manor, Clover Manor and Androscoggin Hospice House for their collective care and compassion.
