1995 – 2015
POLAND — Adam David Verreault, 20, of 414 Poland Corner Road, Poland, passed away in his home unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Adam was born July 16, 1995, a son of David and Colleen Verreault. He grew up in Poland and graduated from Poland Regional High School in 2013. Following high school, Adam attended the University of Southern Maine and planned to attend the University of Maine in Orono in the fall. He worked at the Oxford Hannaford supermarket as a pharmacy technician.
All throughout school, Adam was active in sports, playing soccer, basketball and baseball — but soccer was his true passion. Adam was a keeper in high school and for his USM Huskies team. His loyalty and dedication was noticed on and off the field by his classmates and coaches. Adam was a loyal Red Sox fan and his favorite soccer team was Chelsea.
Not one to sit around, Adam was very involved in outdoor activities. He was happy snowboarding and snowmobiling in the winter, or wakeboarding, kayaking and swimming at the lake in the summer. He spent time at the family camp in Holeb, hunting with his Dad, one of their favorite things to do together. Adam also enjoyed staying active — mostly playing soccer with his friends. Adam did not take the Maine lifestyle for granted.
If you knew Adam, you know he was kind, generous and funny. He would do anything for anyone who needed his help. Everyone who knew him would agree that he had an infectious smile and could make anyone laugh. He was very outgoing and personable, and he could carry on a conversation with anyone. Adam had a happy soul.
Adam liked to travel. He and his mom traveled to Italy for his senior class trip. He also enjoyed annual family trips to amusement park destinations where there were roller coasters and pools. UNO card game tournaments were a regular event during these trips, and Adam enjoyed this family bonding, teasing and rubbing it in their faces when he won.
Adam was a lover of all animals, especially his dog, Ginger, who passed away early this year. His new four-legged companion in 2015 was his dog, Mikey. Adam rescued Mikey from the shelter in the spring and loved him very dearly. He not only had dogs, over the years, he had cats, fish, rats and yes — even some tree frogs.
Adam is survived by his parents, David and Colleen (Kelley) Verreault; his sister, Emily Verreault; paternal grandmother, Cecile G. Verreault of Lewiston; maternal grandmother, Helene L. Guilman of Corinth; Aunt Deana Kelley; Uncle Mark McClellan; Aunt Sue and Uncle Rick Fournier; Uncle Rick and Aunt Mary Verreault; Aunt Cathy and Uncle Mike Moody; cousins, Frankie Welch III, Brendan McClellan, Joe Fournier and Nicole Bauer, Robert and Lauren Verreault, and Josh and Riana Moody; as well as many second cousins.
He was predeceased by maternal grandfather, Dean M. Kelley “Papa;” and paternal grandfather, Richard P. Verreault.
