1941 – 2015
STANDISH — Patricia Ann (Flynn) Swett died peacefully Saturday evening, Aug. 22, just before sunset, at her home on Sebago Lake in Standish, following a decades-long battle with multiple sclerosis.
She was born in Auburn, on May 20, 1941, daughter of late the Raymond and Doris (Davis) Flynn. She was educated in Lewiston and graduated as a registered nurse from Central Maine General, now Central Maine Medical Center.
As a nurse, she was employed by Central Maine General, Mercy Hospital and Maine Medical Center. After retiring from nursing, she volunteered for the American Red Cross and substance abuse programs in local schools.
She enjoyed gardening and sharing memories of her grandparents’ farm in Auburn. She advocated for those that couldn’t speak for themselves and cared for those who couldn’t care for themselves.
She married the love of her life, Alfred E. Swett, and lovingly embraced his daughter, Elizabeth (Swett) Waldman; his son, Alfred W. Swett; and their families.
She is predeceased by her husband; and her brother, Michael.
She is survived by her brothers, David A. Flynn of Lyman, and Timothy J. Flynn of Lewiston; her children, Cynthia L. Swett and her husband, Norman Maze, Scott D. and his wife, Marie Swett, and Daniel J. and his wife, Tammy Swett, of Raymond; as well as her grandchildren, Ashton, RubySkye, Delanna, Alasdair, Delia, Ariella, Aden and Ethan.
