Funds raised allow the church to open its doors to groups like AA, Girl Scouts, Free Supper, Christmastide Concerts and Children’s Theater. The rain-or-shine sale, now under 11 tents, will fill the entire church parking lot to overflowing.

The church is actively seeking community volunteers to assist with set up on Thursday morning, Aug. 20 and all day Friday, Aug. 21. If you are interested in volunteering for a few hours and/or need mandated community/school service hours, please contact the church office at 207-743-2290. Once the tents are set up, clean, good condition furniture donations may be placed under the tents. There are no “early birds” or “previews” allowed before the sale. Coffee and donuts will be for sale for eager shoppers. Hot dogs and soda will be available later in the morning.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for your daily articles in the newspaper. They are very informative and helpful. It’s that time again as we plan our holiday fundraiser. We are the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach food pantry and clothing bank in Lisbon Falls. We are in much need of knitted items: slippers, hats, afghans, etc., and also gift items to sell on our holiday tables.

We rent tables at various fairs and everything we sell is donated to us. We also need nice items for our raffles. Our food pantry and clothing bank run solely on volunteer help. No one gets paid for what they do. It is getting harder every month to get food for our pantry and we rely on donations to help us out.

If anyone can help donate to our fundraisers, it would be very appreciated. For more information, call Bert at 207-216-3460 about any donations you want to make or have picked up. Thank you for helping feed the hungry. — Bert in Lisbon.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: School is just around the corner! Once again, The Store Next Door Project at Lewiston High School is seeking new donations to stock its shelves. This project serves youth and families experiencing homelessness and instability, as well as pregnant and parenting students living within the Lewiston area, assisting hundreds each year.

Items we desperately need include: all high school-age school supplies, backpacks, undergarments, socks, clothes for all genders and all sizes; also, full-size toiletry and hygiene items, especially body wash, hair conditioner, Q-tips, and Pearl tampons. Laundry detergent (pods are wonderful!) and all types of nonperishable dry goods to stock the pantry are needed as well. Monetary donations and local gift cards will be gratefully accepted.

For more information, please email Mary at mseaman@lewistonpublicschools.org or call 207-795-4190 ext. 214. Since our project relies 100 percent on community support, it is great to be part of this caring area of businesses, friends and families.
