1930 – 2015
Auburn — Carmen Mercier, 85, of Auburn passed away on Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin County with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 1, 1930, the daughter of Louis and Onelda (Saindon) Pelletier. She attended local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1948 before attending and graduating from St. Mary’s School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1951. She married her husband, Ronald E. Mercier, on Nov. 26, 1955, and together, they raised their family.
Carmen was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and Sacred Heart Church in Auburn, where she was a lector for 14 years and past president of Golden Age Club at Sacred Heart Church. She served as commissioner for Auburn Housing Authority, and was a member of New Auburn Seniors and the Maine Franco-American Genealogical Society in Auburn.
Carmen is survived by a son, Michael and his wife, Susan Mercier, of Auburn; two daughters, Anne and her husband, Daniel Printup, of Poland, and Suzanne and her husband, Brian Reny, of Lewiston ; grandchildren, Timothy and his wife, Adrianne Mercier, Jeremy Mercier, William and his wife, Nicole Printup, Thomas and his wife, Heather Printup, and Torey and Kaitlyn Reny; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Sadie and Lydia Mercier, Gage McBean, and Lily and Hadley Printup.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald; two sisters, Anita Hamann and Antointette Gilbert; and a brother, Robert Pelletier.
