LEWISTON — A memorial Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Julien A. “Bill” Chasse was celebrated by Monsignor Marc Caron Tuesday morning, Aug. 11, in the Upper Church of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.
During Mass, the New Testament reading was proclaimed by Bill’s niece, Alysha St. Michel. The Prayer of the Faithful was recited by Bill’s niece, Jessica Cormier. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by stepdaughter Kim Doucette and daughters Sandi Guimond, and Denise Shorette. Words of remembrance were shared by Bill’s stepdaughter, Stephanie Field.
Following a funeral procession to the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, the Rev. Samy of St. Michael’s Parish in Augusta recited committal prayers, after which the U.S. Army honor guard played taps and presented our country’s flag to Bill’s widow, Lina, in recognition of her husband’s service to his country during the Cold War and the Vietnam War. The urn bearers were Courtney and Garrett Coulombe, as well as Emily and Lauren Chasse.
At the conclusion of services, all in attendance were invited to a reception of fellowship at the home of Kim Doucette in Lewiston.
