LEWISTON — The Gypsy Lew Theater Company, a new traveling theater company based in the Lewiston and  Auburn area, is opening its first show, “Abundance” by Pullitzer Prize winner Beth Henley, in August.

Directed by Glynnis Nadel, “Abundance” will be performed at Guthries Independent Theater Thursday, Aug. 27, Friday, Aug. 28, and Saturday, Aug. 29. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7. Guthries full menu will be available for order.

Tickets are $12, and may be purchased online at gypsylewtheater.com, on the GypsyLew Theater Company Facebook page, or at the door. Only 123 tickets will be sold.

“Abundance” is an epic tale of the American western frontier in the late 1800s. The show focuses on the lives of two young women as they navigate the fulfillment of their dreams and their evolving friendship spanning 25 years. Hilarious, serious and sometimes dark, the show follows the abandonment of dreams and values the characters hold so dear, and what that means to them at the end of their lives.

Fans of Lewiston’s previous Out of the Box Theater are likely to enjoy Gypsy Lew Theater Company’s productions.

Cast includes the local Maine talent of Mary Randall, Emily Grotz, Ezra Damm, Van Beckman, and Jared Lussier.
