Wyatt Alexander, a 15-year-old rookie at Wiscasset Speedway, made the first Pro Stock victory of his career a big one Saturday night.

Alexander took advantage of the three early leaders’ late misfortune and ran away with the Boss Hogg 100. The victory was worth more than $3,000 to Alexander, who ascended to the top division through the go kart and Legends ranks.

He lurked in the top five all evening while Andy Saunders and Scott Chubbuck ran one-two at the front of the field. Saunders surrendered the lead to Chubbuck by a nose after a lap 70 restart.

The leaders made contact and spun on the next circuit, bringing out the fifth and final caution flag of the event.

Kelly Moore would have inherited the lead, but he pitted under the yellow. Next in line was James Osmond, who pulled to the infield with a mechanical issue.

That left the top spot to Alexander, who enjoyed a cushion of three lapped cars between himself and new runner-up Vinnie Miller, 17, of Mooresville, N.C. By the time Miller was clear of traffic, Alexander led by full straightaway, and he maintained all of that advantage until the checkers flew.

Miller, a Michigan native, survived several minor scrapes to make the long haul pay off with a runner-up finish.

Chubbuck and Saunders recovered to finish third and fourth, with Evan Beaulieu of Durham fifth. Those were the only drivers in the 20-car field on the lead lap at the finish.

Other feature winners were Zach Audet in Thunder 4 Mini, Alex Waltz in New England 4-Cylinder Pro Stock, and Dan Trask in Super Street.

ACT redemption for Babb at Beech Ridge

Brad Babb of Windham took advantage of his local knowledge Saturday night and ruled the Beech Ridge 150 for his second American-Canadian Tour victory of the season.

It was redemption for Babb, who led a majority of the previous ACT race at Oxford Plains Speedway before a late skirmish with Joey Polewarczyk cost him a potential win.

Babb took the lead from Auburn’s Travis Stearns on lap 61 and held off a furious charge from Wayne Helliwell on his way to the winner’s circle. Helliwell pulled even with two laps to go before Babb emerged victorious.

Eddie MacDonald raced from 22nd starting position to third, followed by Stearns and Rowland Robinson Jr. of Steuben.

Beech Ridge champion Dave Farrington Jr. of Jay was sixth ahead of Winthrop’s Jeff White and Polewarczyk, who rallied after a spin due to a flat tire with 10 laps to go.

Jacob Dore scored his second NASCAR Pro Series victory of the season in supporting action. Mike Fowler was second, with Robbie Harrison third. Frank Wear picked up his first Sport Series win of the campaign over Phil Pinkham and Craig Smith. Brian Caswell was Wildcat winner with Kristina Nadeau and Lewis Anderson in tow.

Johnny Clark breaks dry spell

Johnny Clark of Farmingdale has taken a break from the Pro All Stars Series, where he is a six-time series champion, to focus on Oxford Plains Speedway’s weekly schedule in hopes of making a run at the Oxford 250 later this month.

So far, the strategy is a winner. Clark ruled the 50-lap Super Late Model feature Saturday night, finishing nearly a half-lap ahead of Dennis Spencer Jr. (second) and Spencer Morse (third) in the caution-free sprint.

The Street Stock and Modified features also rattled off without a stoppage. David Whittier of Poland broke through for the first win of his career in the Street Stock encounter. Andrew Breton was second, with Richard Spaulding third. Evan Armington aced the open-wheel event ahead of Scott Alexander and Ryan Robbins.

Jon Lizotte eased to the Figure Eight win over Mike St. Germain and David Smith, while Cam Childs collected the Bandit triumph over Dan Wade and Tyler Green.

Davis, Clark win in Canada

Jeremy Davis of Tamworth, N.H., kicked down the door in PASS North, breaking through for his first win Saturday night at Autodrome Montmagny in Quebec. Travis Benjamin was second, followed by Mike Rowe and Ben Rowe of Turner. Davis finished second at Oxford one week ago.

Farmington’s Cassius Clark won the Atlantic CAT 250 at Scotia Speedworld in Halifax for the third time in his career Saturday night.
