1949 – 2015

FARMINGTON — Susan L. Hamilton, 66, of Farmington, formerly of Rangeley, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, at her home in Farmington.

Susan was born on April 5, 1949, a daughter of Stanley and Joyce (Allmon) Brookins. She grew up in Arizona and upon graduating high school, attended Northern Arizona University.

In 1987, she moved to Rangeley, where she became deeply involved in the community as well as the school district. Susan wore many hats at the Rangeley Lakes Regional School; at various times, she held positions as the secretary, librarian, athletic director and served as a coach for softball, cheerleading and soccer. Known as “Mrs. H,” she touched countless lives as a motivator and mentor to the children in the Rangeley school system.

Aside from her dedication in the school, Susan’s greatest passions in life were her family and love of theater. She was a leader in the Rangeley Friends of the Arts organization and helped produce and direct several plays over the years. She enjoyed socializing, particularly going on trips and to parties with “The Sistahs.”

Susan is survived by her children, Amy Eustis and her husband, Dexter, of Wilton, Melinda Mullen-Jenckes and her husband, Nate, of Wilton, and Mac Mullen of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, Emilee, Jackson, Jaycee and Riley; a brother, David R. Brookins and his wife, Mindy, of California; and a lifelong friend, Dixie Swan.
