1926 – 2015
LEWISTON — Charlotte M. “Chy” Tanguay, 89, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Hospice House in Auburn. She was residing at the home of her daughter in Lewiston for the past five years. Before that, she resided in Mexico.
She was born in Berkley, Mass., on Jan. 2, 1926, the daughter of Jacob and Cora (Besse) Barton.
Charlotte was a graduate of Dighton High School in Massachusetts. Upon graduation, she attended art college in Fall River, Mass. In 1945, she met the love of her life, Theodore Tanguay, and they were married Sept. 27, 1947. From there, they made their home in Mexico and raised four children.
Survivors include her sons, Ted Tanguay of Roxbury, and David Tanguay and Robyn of Mexico; two daughters, Jackie Tanguay and partner, Lisa, of Lewiston, and Linda-Tanguay Folsom of Rumford; four grandchildren, Christie-Marie Folsom, Marina Hingsten, Chelsea Bitondo and Dale Brown.
She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore “Tiger” Tanguay, on Aug. 5, 2010; as well as two sisters and one brother.
Some of “Chy’s” greatest passions included the piano, painting, drawing and refinishing furniture. She also enjoyed visits from family and friends as well as writing letters.
The family would like to thank Dr. Pamela Ross, Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice, especially Donna and Mary, Dr. Austin and all the staff at the Hospice House for the wonderful care given to our mother.
