1933 – 2015
WEST PARIS — Florence “Honey” M. Young Bailey of Bethel passed away at Ledgeview Living Center on Sunday, Aug. 2, at the age of 82.
She was born June 4, 1933, the daughter of William and Lillian Grover Young. She was employed at many businesses around the Bethel area prior to retiring.
Over the years, she was a member of the Round Mountain Grange, a 4-H leader, an active member of the Ladies American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was named Citizen of the Year by the Bethel Chamber of Commerce.
She married the love of her life, Laurence “Timer” J. Bailey, on June 18, 1950. Together, they raised their children, who survive her: Christopher (Brenda) Bailey of Andover, Mark (Susan) Bailey of Ipswich, Mass., Joe Bailey and Jack (Wendy) Bailey, all of Bethel, and Janice (Michael) Champagne of Schuyler Falls, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Honey is also survived by a sister, Janice Cross; a brother, Grover “Peter” Young; and a special friend, Sandy Rice. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years; her brothers, Harold and Lawrence; and her sisters, Edna Cole and Eleanor Buker.
