PORTLAND — The Nova Star ferry that transports passengers between Maine and Nova Scotia in the summer and fall has secured a new winter route.
Nova Star Cruises said Tuesday that starting Nov. 1, the vessel will offer service between England and France three times a day.
Mark Amundsen, president and CEO of Nova Star Cruises, said that the new winter route in Europe will help make the Portland and Yarmouth service more economically viable. He called it the “winter solution” the company has been looking for.
The ferry began its second season transporting passengers and freight between Portland Yarmouth in June. The service will run until October 13.
