In his letter (July 23), David Theriault used an example of what he called “Maine humor — so logical.” It portrayed a conversation with a typical rural Mainer. Part of it read:

“Excuse me, but have you lived here all your life?”

“Not yet.”

“Uh, OK. So, does this road go to Bangor?”

“Pretty much stays right where it is.”

I believe it should be pointed out to Theriault that the humor cited in his letter to support his political position used literalism, not logic. His confusion on those concepts likely explains the opinions he expresses.
