AUBURN — City officials plan to unveil details of the landmark investment in a vacant Minot Avenue warehouse Friday morning.

The city scheduled a 9:30 a.m. news conference in the City Council Chamber at Auburn Hall to announce details of the private investment in 67 Minot Ave., known as The Barn building.

The 175,000-square-foot building and the neighboring vacant car dealership at 81 Minot Ave. were sold July 10 to Miracle Enterprises, a Maine corporation formed June 19 and based in Mechanic Falls.

The Barn building was built in 1914 as the Lunn and Sweet shoe factory. It has housed several manufacturing and warehousing operations since then, most recently as the retail surplus mega-store The Barn beginning in 1994.

Dan Lajoie sold the building to Minot Street Partners in 2003, but took it back after the corporation failed to pay Lajoie and went bankrupt. That bankruptcy was settled in June.

According to the city of Auburn, the larger 67 Minot Ave. property is valued at $1.64 million and the 81 Minot Ave. lot at $187,500.
