WILTON — Wilton Fish and Game Association and its Youth Shooting League invite the public to its annual open house Saturday, Aug. 8, during the Wilton Blueberry Festival Weekend. This is an opportunity to try outdoor sports and to learn the safety rules under the instruction of skilled outdoorsmen and women.
There will be a certified archery instructor on site to instruct the use of equipment, safety and technique from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in archery to try the sport ages 6 and older. Will Sampson will present a demo on the building of a bow at 11 a.m.
Conex Box will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for anyone looking to sharpen their skills at the shooting gallery. Shooters may test their skills during the One Shot Challenge with exploding targets, by trying the Gatling gun and by shooting clay pigeons from silhouettes. Guns and ammo will be supplied for a small fee. There will be a range officer on site.
The range will be open for trap shooting at 1 p.m. under the direction of Charlie Tappan for a minimal fee. Participants in this event should bring eye and ear protection.
The Youth Shooting League will cook a hamburger and hot dog lunch as a fundraiser to help support the youth shooting sports.
Members will be downtown by Food City during the festival Friday and Saturday to answer any questions about membership or events sponsored throughout the year.
