JAY — Police say a local woman is accused of drunken driving after her SUV hit an apartment building Wednesday night at the Jay Hill Apartments complex off Route 4.

The outside door to the apartment was broken off and a wall in the entryway was pushed into the apartment, police Chief Richard Caton IV said.

“Speed and alcohol were factors in the crash,” he said.

Officer Nicholas Gulliver arrested Kathleen M. Adams-Masselli, 38, of Jay on misdemeanor charges of operating without a license with a Q condition and operating under the influence, Chief Richard Caton IV said Thursday. She was issued a summons on a charge of driving to endanger, he said.

A Q condition on a driver’s license means that someone may not operate after consuming intoxicating liquor, he said.

Adams-Masselli, who lives at the complex, was not hurt, Caton said.

The driver’s side door of the vehicle was stuck, but Jay firefighters helped her out of the rear driver’s side door, fire Chief Mike Booker said.

No one in the apartment was injured, Caton said.

The front-end of the 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe was heavily damaged, Caton said.

Adams-Masselli was released from the Franklin County jail in Farmington on Thursday afternoon on $3,000 unsecured bail.
