It takes moral integrity to provide real leadership in government. State government is dissolving into chaos because Gov. Paul LePage completely lacks moral integrity.
In November, the voters of Lewiston can elect a mayor who has that integrity: Ben Chin. He has enough respect for his fellow Lewistonians to go to residents’ doors and ask them what is and isn’t working in city government. And enough respect for residents to say what he proposes to do to make it work better.
He believes in Mainers, as he showed four years ago when LePage pushed through a law making it more difficult for Mainers to register and vote; Chin worked tirelessly on the campaign that restored the people’s rights to register on Election Day.
I admire his intelligence, his compassion, his willingness to listen and, above all, his moral integrity.
