JAY — A Lewiston man is accused of being involved in a June 28 home invasion in which a 75-year-old man had his hands tied behind his back and was made to lie face-down while intruders stole items from his home.

The victim was robbed of a wallet, cellphone and a valuable coin collection, Detective Michael Mejia said previously.

Daniel Leet, 33, is the second suspect to be charged in the case.

Mejia arrested Leet on Monday afternoon on felony charges of robbery and burglary and a misdemeanor charge of criminal restraint, police Chief Richard Caton IV said Tuesday.

A conviction on the robbery charge carries up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Leet is being held without bail at the Franklin County jail in Farmington, a corrections officer said.

Leet and co-defendant Eric S. Hafford, 34, of Livermore Falls are accused of breaking into the man’s house while he was sleeping on June 28.

Hafford, arrested Friday, was charged by the District Attorney’s Office on felony charges of robbery, burglary and theft by unauthorized taking and a misdemeanor charge of criminal restraint on Monday.

A judge at Farmington District Court on Monday set Hafford’s bail at $50,000 cash. Judge Charles Dow also ordered a resident curfew of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. if Hafford is released from jail.

One of the conditions of release is that he have no contact with the victim or Leet.

Police have the victim’s game camera that captured images of suspects at his house and yard during the invasion. Both suspects in the images were wearing full-face respirators, according to Mejia’s report filed with the court.

A white mesh bag containing collector coin items was found in the Dead River in Leeds by someone in a boat, Mejia’s report states.

The case remains under investigation, Caton said.
