JAY — Police arrested a Livermore Falls man Friday, charging him in a June 28 home invasion on Farrington Road where a 75-year-old homeowner had his hands bound behind his back.

Eric S. Hafford, 34, was arrested at the Jay Police Station on Class A charges of robbery and burglary, and a Class D misdemeanor charge of criminal restraint, Jay Detective Michael Mejia said.

A conviction on the Class A charges each carry a penalty of up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Hafford is being held without bail at the Franklin County jail in Farmington, according to a corrections officer.

Mejia said he had interviewed Hafford previously at the station and ended up arresting him.

The investigation is ongoing and police are following up on leads, Mejia said. No one else had been arrested as of Friday afternoon.

Intruders, who had their faces covered, forced their way into the man’s home and taped his hands behind his back and forced him to lie face down while they went through his home, Mejia previously said. The homeowner was able to free his hands and called 911 at 11:59 a.m.

The man’s wallet, cellphone and a large part of an extensive coin collection were stolen, police said.

The homeowner had set up a game camera in his home and it caught images of suspects as they were leaving.
