1949 – 2015
LEWISTON — Nancy Lee (Ellis) Morgan, 65, of Phillips, passed away on Saturday, July 11, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where she had been a patient for the past two weeks, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1949, in West Peru, the daughter of Ralph Chase and Julia Brackett Ellis Chase Rolfe. Nancy attended school in Phillips, graduating from Phillips High School and went on to earn an associate degree in culinary arts from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. In 2000, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Maine at Farmington.
Nancy worked for over 25 years at Forster Manufacturing, transitioning from an hourly position to the director of Human Resources. The last job Nancy held prior to her retirement was as executive director United Way of the Tri-Valley Area, an organization of which Nancy and her husband, David, had been avid supporters for years.
Nancy was also actively involved in numerous charity functions and organizations, sitting on many boards throughout the years.
On Aug. 29, 1970, Nancy married David Morgan of Phillips. They resided on the river in Phillips, where they raised their son, Ryan. For the past three years, they wintered in Zephyrhills, Fla. with their two cats, returning in the spring to their beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, David B. Morgan of Phillips; her son, Ryan D. Morgan and wife, Iris, and their children, Kyla Morgan and Kelton Morgan, all of Farmington; her siblings, Gerald Ellis and wife, Ronnie, of Vermont, Anita Dunham and husband, Jeffrey, of Wilton, Fred Rolfe and wife, Noralynn, of Paris, and Elizabeth (Snippy) Rolfe of Phillips; and many in-laws, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Rex Ellis and Dr. Lynn (Butch) Ellis; and her parents-in-law, Montford (Spin) and Mary Morgan.
