Franklin County 2, Gardiner 0

FARMINGTON — Anthony Franchetti had three hits and drove in a run to lead Franklin County to a 2-0 win over Gardiner in Legion baseball Thursday.

Franklin County (10-1) broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the sixth inning. Pitcher Amos Herrin struck out 11 and scattered just four hits for the win. Kyle Fletcher allowed only six hits in the loss for Gardiner (4-5)

In the sixth, Franchetti drilled an RBI double to plate Ryan Pratt for the 1-0 lead. Then an error on a Herrin grounder allowed Andrew Pratt to score a second run. Franchetti also had a pair of singles in the game.

Augusta 2, Rogers Post 1 

AUGUSTA — Tyler Bailey’s two-out single in the eighth inning lifted Augusta to a 2-1 win over Rogers Post in Legion baseball Thursday.

Rogers (5-5) had produced a double play on a squeeze bunt in the eighth inning and Augusta had runners at first and second. Bailey then delivered a single to plate Reid Shostak.

Payton Kennison pitched the final two innings to get the win for Augusta (8-2). Brandon Varney went the distance for Rogers, allowing just five hits.

Rogers took a 1-0 lead in the first when Varney walked in Lew Jensen. Augusta tied the game in the fourth on a Taylor Lockhart RBI single.

Brunswick 6, Tri-Town 0

POLAND — Charlie Lowell spun a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts Thursday, boosting Brunswick to a 6-0 Zone 3 American Legion baseball victory over Tri-Town.

Zach Meggison and John Parker each belted a two-run home run for Brunswick, both in the first inning, when the visitors scored all six runs.

Billy Bickford’s two-out single in the bottom of the first was the only hit for Tri-Town. Kaleb Bridgham pitched six shutout innings of relief, allowing only one hit.
