LEWISTON — Police said an SUV driven by a Lisbon man struck Black Bear Ladder and Scaffolding’s building at 515 Pleasant St. Monday afternoon.

Glenn Gamrat, 57, of Woodside Drive was identified as the driver of the 2001 Ford. He reportedly was alert and talking to rescue personnel after the accident.

According to Lewiston Police Lt. Kelly Hamel, the vehicle hit a street sign and a 2007 Mercedes Benz sedan before crashing into the building beneath a loading dock door.

Damage to the SUV and building were not immediately available.

The Mercedes had been parked by Kathleen Cordts and is owned by John Cordts of River Road of Lisbon.

The accident is under investigation.
