The reigning Mountain Valley Conference field hockey player of the year is going to keep playing for another four years — at least.

Oak Hill High School captain Hayley Marshall is among the eight newest members of the University of Maine field hockey team, the school announced this week.

“We are thrilled to announce our incoming class,” UMaine field hockey coach Josette Babineau said in a news release. “We feel that these players are very talented and experienced. We were looking for players to add to our midfield and backfield line. Our team has been working hard this spring and it will be exciting in preseason to see them come together as a whole since this is such a large class.”

Marshall has been a member of the Maine Majestix and also excelled at Oak Hill. A two-time captain, Marshall was named first team All-State, Kennebec Journal Player of the Year and the MVC Player of the Year in 2014. As a senior, Marshall finished with 15 goals and 18 assists, leading Oak Hill to an undefeated regular season and a spot in the Western Class C final.

Other members of this year’s recruiting class include Delaney Baxendale of Wilton, Conn.; Casey Crowley of New Zealand; Lydia Gavner of Buffalo, N.Y.; Samantha Gomes of Brampton, Ontario, Canada; Ella Mosky of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; Libby Riedl of Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada; and Samantha Wagg of Australia.
