PHILLIPS — Residents in Regional School Unit 58 approved a $9.4 million budget Monday by a vote of 143-48.

The town tallies were: Avon, 17-3; Kingfield, 54-10; Phillips, 18-17; and Strong, 54-18.

The budget for 2015-16 is $291,550 more than this fiscal year, which ends Tuesday.

On June 9, district voters approved only debt service and adult education budgets. That touched off another round of budget presentations, leading to Monday’s vote.

Compared to the earlier budget, Monday’s budget has $16,000 less for tuition for charter schools and $12,000 less for a pre-kindergarten program in all three elementary schools.
