AUBURN — Gladys E. Strout, 87, of Mechanic Falls, died early Friday morning, June 26, at the Hospice House in Auburn.
She was born in South Paris, January 29, 1928, a daughter of Elwood and Harriet Gowell Verrill. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School, and on June 21, 1947, she married Vernon P. Strout in Mechanic Falls. He died March 7, 1961. Gladys was a homemaker while raising her children; she then worked at Stride Rite, Beal’s laundry and Mecon Mfg.
