WEBSTER, Mass. (AP) — Four firefighters were injured battling a huge blaze that’s still smoldering at a vacant mill complex in central Massachusetts.

Officials say the fire at the Anglo Fabrics Mill in Webster was reported at about 1 p.m. Thursday and contained by Thursday evening. Firefighters from several communities battled the seven-alarm blaze.

Webster Fire Chief Brian Hickey says four fighters were hospitalized with minor injuries, including two who have since returned to the fire.

State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan says the fire began in one building and spread to two others. Smoke from the blaze could be seen from miles away.

Coan says officials suspect arson, but the cause is still being determined.

Embers from the blaze started several minor fires nearby, and some homes had to be evacuated.
