FARMINGTON — Farmington Public Library has announced “Love to Listen,” its summer reading program for children of all ages, readers and listeners.

The program will run June 17 to Aug. 9. Children may register any time during the summer when setting up a reading record at the library. All area children are welcome to participate, even those without a Farmington Public Library card. Pre-readers may participate by counting the books that are read to them. All books and audiobooks count, not just library books.

Children receive a voucher for a Portland Sea Dogs ticket when they register. Other incentives include: a Pizza Hut coupon after reading five books; a Subway coupon after reading 10 books; weekly raffles for Gifford’s ice cream cones after reading 10 books and weekly raffles for new and used books after reading 10 books.

The four top readers will receive gift certificates from Devaney, Doak & Garrett. Narrow Gauge Theatre has provided movie passes for eight highly-motivated readers. Children may also select a prize each time they visit the library during the program.

Special read aloud times with guest readers from local schools will be presented at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays; 6 p.m. on Thursdays and 10 a.m. on Saturdays. The library’s regular programs include: Baby Rhymes on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and Preschool Story Hour on Fridays at 10 a.m. These programs will be offered throughout the summer.

Farmington Public Library is located at 117 Academy St. in Farmington. All library programs are free and open to the public.

Borrowing privileges are free for Farmington residents. Non-residents may join for an annual fee of $25 per household. The town of Industry reimburses its residents.
