JAY — Selectpersons are looking for more people to serve on the Recreation Committee to develop a plan for the French Falls Recreation Area and overall recreational goals for the town.
The board entered into a 40-year lease for $1 per year with Androscoggin Land Trust for the French Falls area in May. The land was previously owned by Verso Paper Corp.
Several ideas have emerged for the 10-acre property, including a gazebo and a dog park, Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere said.
There is a ball field at French Falls. The property abuts the Whistle-Stop Trail that runs from West Farmington to Livermore Falls.
Board members asked that the Recreation Committee be reconvened to develop a plan for the area. They would like to hear ideas, suggestions and feedback from the committee, she said.
Rob Taylor, Randy Easter, Pearl Cook, Debbie Breton and Cindy Bennett have agreed to serve on the committee. Board of Selectpersons Chairman Justin Merrill and board member Steve McCourt will also participate.
Selectperson Terry Bergeron said he would like to see more residents involved.
Anyone interested in serving on the committee is asked to contact the Town Office at 207-897-6785.
