1918 – 2015
SCARBOROUGH — Alma M. Rafuse, 97, formerly of Rumford for many years, died Sunday, June 14, at Pine Point Center in Scarborough. She had resided for over 30 years in Wells.
She was born in Rumford on Feb. 6, 1918, the daughter of Louis and Meliena (Goguen) Billon. She graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford and attended the Golden School of Beauty Culture in Portland.
Alma was a hairdresser for many years, working in Rumford and Oquossoc, prior to World War II. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Wells.
She was married in Rumford, on May 6, 1945, to George N. Rafuse, who died in York on May 26, 1994.
Survivors include a son, George Rafuse and wife, Ann, of South Portland; nephews, Arthur Dower and Walter Dower and wife, Anna.
