LEWISTON — Robert A. Perry, 61, formerly of Greene, and Vieques Island, Puerto Rico, died peacefully at his home in Lewiston on Saturday, June 13, surrounded by loving family. He fought a courageous battle against cancer.

He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 26, 1953, the eldest of three children of Joseph A. and Loretta E. (Pellerin) Perry of Greene. He attended elementary school in Lewiston and graduated from Leavitt Area High School in Turner.

Bob’s work history was extensive and included the former Nanking Restaurant in Lewiston. He worked for over 20 years at Central Maine Medical Center, and was also employed at Marden’s and Union Street Market. He spent summers working at North Maine Woods and more recently, he operated his own business in Puerto Rico, which included landscaping, cleaning, painting, plumbing and other odd jobs.

Bob enjoyed nature. He was an avid outdoors man and loved to go fishing, hunting, camping, boating and digging for clams. He was also a master tinkerer and could build and repair most anything.

He is survived by his second wife, Deborah; his children, Veronica Herrick, Matthew Perry and Mariah Schierer; his parents, Joseph and Loretta Perry; his younger brother, David Perry; his younger sister, Tammy Perry-Kramarz; and his stepchildren, Charro, Crystal and Robert Jr. He also leaves behind many in-laws, grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends, including his best friend, Charles Cloutier.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Beacon Hospice for their in-home support.
