As our June 2014 to June 2015 year on the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council comes to a close, we want to again say, “We love Lewiston.”
During the past year, we have worked hard to bring attention to the many offerings within our city, from festivals to restaurants to the arts to post-secondary education. The list goes on.
As members of LYAC, we have learned so much about Lewiston’s history — how it has grown and the ways it is moving forward. We are excited about things, such as the new energy on Lisbon Street and the forthcoming amphitheater in Simard-Payne Memorial Park.
During our tenure, we launched our positive image campaign, “Do You Do Lew,” to encourage people to be themselves and to enjoy what is available in Lewiston.
In that regard, we encourage others to explore Lewiston, try new activities and be the city’s cheerleaders. If we don’t talk positively about our city, why should we expect others to?
We have been honored to serve on LYAC and will continue to be ambassadors for Lewiston by talking about what is here and what is on the horizon.
We hope others will join us in doing so.
Nairus Abdullahi, chairman, LYAC, on behalf of the entire council
