AUBURN — Constance “Connie” M. Ray of Auburn passed away on Saturday, June 6, at the Androscoggin Hospice House with her family by her side.
She was born in South Paris on Feb. 12, 1941, the daughter of Albert H. and Ada Mary (Frothingham) Carroll. She attended and graduated from Nouasseur Dependents High School in Nouasseur, Morocco, in 1959. In 1962, she married Thomas E. Ray and together, they raised their two children, Steve and Sue. She graduated from CMG School of Nursing in Lewiston as a registered nurse in March 1962.
After becoming a registered nurse, she went to work for the family practice of Dr. Young and Dr. DeCosta. When the practice was sold to St. Mary’s, she continued working there until her retirement in 1998.
Connie and Tom had many great times, traveling and making wonderful friends with the Masons and Shriners. She was a member of High Street Congregational Church for almost 50 years and was very active in the church and Ladies Guild, where she made many more friendships that lasted for the rest of her life. She will be missed by many very good friends who loved her dearly.
Connie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Thomas E. Ray; her two children, Steve Ray of Mechanic Falls and Sue Ray of Auburn; two sisters, Debbie and her husband, Bruce Picard, of Florida, and Pam MacDonald of Turner.
She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Bob Carroll.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you for the wonderful care provided by Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and Hospice House.
