To the Editor:

I am writing to support Bob Kirchherr for selectman for the town of Paris.

A longtime resident of Paris, Bob recently served the town for eight years on the Paris Planning Board and Selectboard, serving as chair of the Selectboard for two years.  During Bob’s time on the Selectboard, the town hired a new town manager, reorganized the Police Department, hired a new police chief, began a reassessment of the town’s valuation and started a 10-year road rebuilding project.

While serving as Selectboard chair, Bob maintained a calm demeanor under often-contentious circumstances, listening to all points of view and encouraging the examination of issues without anger and confrontation.

Bob is a retired educator with 30 years of experience, teaching at SAD 17 and Central Maine Community College where he was associate dean. He was also a founder of the Oxford Hills Higher Education initiative.

As selectman, Bob would continue advocating for education funding, economic development and property tax relief.

I enthusiastically support Bob Kirchherr to again serve the citizens of Paris as selectman.
