LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen on Tuesday evening approved a new interlocal agreement with neighboring Jay for use of the sewer treatment plant.
Town Manager Kristal Flagg said changes include clarifications to employment regulations, benefits and other employee matters. She said Jay is expected to act on the agreement at its meeting Monday, June 8.
The board learned that the 1897 cannon in Union Park has been repaired and will be placed at the site. Veteran and American Legion member Don Simoneau raised several thousand dollars for the repairs, welding the park’s fence and replacing town flagpoles.
In a related matter, the town approved taking $317 from the contingency fund to help pay for the annual Memorial Day parade.
The board directed Flagg to call three local contractors who bid on replacing the highway garage roof to learn whether specifications were the same. She said all three have done work for the town in the past. The bids ranged from $22,800 to $31,500.
Also on Tuesday, the board:
* Met in a closed session with Sewer Department Superintendent Greg Given to work out an agreement to allow him to retire in September and continue working in the position.
* Made plans to visit the ecomaine trash facility in Westbrook for a tour June 18.
* Agreed with other Androscoggin County town officials who support the county’s Budget Committee on its budget authority.
