Also, a question. Is it safe to run a humidifier without water in it? Thank you for your anticipated response. — Sue in Auburn.
ANSWER: You need to check the manual that came with the humidifier to see what it says, if anything, about running the humidifier without water. There are two opinions: yes it’s okay because a humidifier is simply a fan that draws air over a container of water and without water the fan may still run but the filter might become dried out and unusable. Many humidifiers shut off automatically when the water is gone. The other opinion is no it is not safe because some humidifiers heat the water to create a mist. You see how Sun Spots cannot answer this question without knowing the brand of humidifier you are using.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Can you tell me when William and Kate’s baby was born and her weight? Thanks. — No Name in Bethel.

DEAR READERS: We all know the guy who built a mailbox 30 feet above the ground and then labeled it “bills.” Yuck, yuck. It’s absolutely hilarious and we’re over it. We know there are some funny, creative and just downright strange mailboxes out there, but we’re having a little trouble finding them. If you have one, or your slightly deranged neighbor does, we’d love to hear about it. Write to Mark LaFlamme at mlaflamme@sunjournal.com. Pictures encouraged. — Sun Journal newsroom, Lewiston.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for a clock repair person for an outdoor clock. The clock is a Howard Miller clock, about 10 years old, battery operated, 19-3/4 inches wide, and two sided. Please contact Carol at 207-562-7692. Thank you.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thanks for all the help you are able to provide to so many people with a wide range of questions. My question to you is this: Why has the repair work on outer Lisbon Street between the on and off ramps for Alfred Plourde Road taken so long to complete? I understood the wintertime side of the work because of the lack of availability of pavement. However, the bump in the road remains as do all kinds of signs related to it. It seems that, since Lisbon Street is a major traffic corridor, any and all road work would be completed and signage removed as soon as possible. Is more work scheduled at that site? Thank you. — J.M. in Auburn.
ANSWER: The day that Sun Spots called the city of Lewiston, Thursday, May 28, was the same day work started up again on that project. Sun Spots learned that the work would take one day. The delay was due to a main water break at this location this past winter and the work had to be coordinated with the Maine Department of Transportation project, which is expected to begin shortly. The MDOT is re-surfacing Lisbon St. from Westminster St. to Adams Ave.
