1923 – 2015
AUGUSTA — Francis Lukaszewicz died on Sunday, April 19, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta.
He was born on Feb. 26, 1923, in the house he lived in his entire life, the son of Bronislaw and Katarzyna Lukaszewicz.
He lived his life as a gentle, religious man, always having a kind word for everyone. Whenever he was called on the phone, he loved to sing to you.
Upon returning from the Navy, he went to work for a construction company until he was injured on the job. At a later date, he drove for Lewiston city bus service and enjoyed talking to passengers each day, always taking great pride in his work. For a time, he also worked at Bates College in the maintenance department.
Francis is survived by his nieces, Annette LeHouillier of Illinois, Carol Hale of Alabama, and Susan Andersen of Tennessee; and many more second- and third-generation nieces and nephews.
Frances was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Lucy; a brother, Stanley Lukaszewicz Sr.; and a nephew, Stanley Lukaszewicz Jr.
We will miss you, Uncle Frank and Aunt Lucy. God bless you; you were loved by us all. Keep singing to us from heaven — we know you will.
A special thank-you to a longtime friend and neighbor, Yvette, who assisted Francis and Lucy throughout their lives. We appreciate all you did for both of them.
