1928 – 2015

LEWISTON — Roger K. Robinson, 87, formerly of Fortin Way, Lewiston, and of Schooner Estates, Auburn, died on Sunday, May 17.

He was born in Portland on Feb. 16, 1928, husband of Martha Jack Robinson and son of George E. and Janet G. (Hanson) Robinson.

He was a graduate of Portland High School, Class of 1946 and of Northeastern Business College, Portland, in 1954. He worked for Grand Trunk Railroad (Canadian National Railway) for 34 years, retiring in 1988. He was a devoted Christian and member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lewiston, where he was a participant of the Resurrection Choir.

Roger was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. Roger was very proud that his name was inscribed on a stone in the Veterans Memorial Park in Lewiston.

Roger took great joy in his family and delighted in many things, including gardening, reading, bird-watching, classical music, organ concerts (especially the summer concerts at the Basilica) and attending plays at the Community Little Theatre. Roger had a great interest and love for history. In 2007, he and his wife successfully completed training as docents for the Portland History program. He enjoyed memberships in the Andros Historical Society, CLT, Marston-Kotzhman Club, FOCO and Victoria Mansion. In his later years, he enjoyed eating out at local restaurants and savoring dessert treats like ice cream and cookies.
