1943 – 2015

BRUNSWICK — Robert L. Robshaw, 71, passed away Tuesday, May 12, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, after a lengthy Illness. At his side were his son, Rob; partner, Debby Stubbs; ex-wife, Phillis McKenney; and friends, Bruce, Sandy and Stephanie Hubbard.

He was born Sept 9, 1943, in Bath, to Dorothy Alexander. At 6 years of age, he and his half-brother, Philip, spent some time with their beloved aunt Frances Crooker Robshaw before the state placed them both at Opportunity Farm, New Gloucester. At 17, with Aunt Francis’ permission, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Marines at Camp Lejeune, N.C., from 1960 to 1964. After his service, he returned to Bath and married Phyllis Taylor in November 1964.

Robert held a variety of jobs before starting his own business, Robshaw Paving and Rain Gutters, in 1977. Previous jobs included J. Brush, Chuck Wagon, where he was a cook at both the Brunswick and Livermore Falls locations, Sargent Construction and Granite Paving. He also drove an oil delivery truck for Thibeault’s Oil Service.

He is survived by his partner, Debby Stubbs of Brunswick; his son, Rob Robshaw of Brunswick; his ex-wife, Phyllis McKenney of Brunswick; his half-brothers, Philip Robshaw and Harry Alexander; four granddaughters, Hope Shaughnessy, Faith Robshaw, Heaven Robshaw and Sabrina Robshaw; several great-grandchildren; and cousins.
