LEWISTON — The Maine College of Health Professions, formerly CMMC College of Nursing and Health Professions, graduated two Nuclear Medicine Technology, 42 Nursing and 20 Radiologic Technology students May 2 in a ceremony at the Lewiston Middle School.

Having successfully completed the College’s education programs, the graduates were awarded Associate Degrees in the Applied Science of Nuclear Medicine Technology, Nursing or Radiologic Technology. A number of graduating students received awards during the ceremony.

Graduates, friends, and family gathered with faculty, staff, administration, and honored dignitaries to celebrate commencement.

Susan Poulin, Faculty and Coordinator of General Education, served as Master of Ceremony. Poulin introduced the Honorable John Jenkins who provided the graduation address. Jenkins spoke about keeping the “care” in healthcare, urging the graduates to take care of themselves so they could in turn take care of their patients.

Providing reflections of the class were Cole Harradon, Nuclear Medicine Technology Student Representative; Stephanie Chin, Nursing Class President; and Jesse Burke, Radiologic Technology Class President.

Kyle Bates was honored with the CMMC Board of Trustees Award, conferred upon the student who exhibits excellence in delivering care. Mark Adams, CMMC Board of Trustees Chair, presented this award.

Marsha Auster, Chair of the Board of Trustees, presented the MCHP Board of Trustees Award to Abigail Stubbs. This award is given each year to the student who demonstrates leadership qualities, displays concern and understanding for others, makes decisions and assumes responsibility for his or her actions, and establishes trust in interactions.

Otis Vance, Interim Director and Director of Financial Services for the College, presented the MCHP President’s Award for the senior students attaining the highest academic achievements to Cole Harradon (nuclear medicine), Bonnie White (nursing) and Brian Zaldumbide (radiologic technology).

The College offers associate degree programs in nuclear medicine technology, nursing and radiologic technology. Certificate programs are available in computed tomography, Reiki and nursing assistant. General education courses are offered each semester and are open to the public.
