1942 – 2015
SOUTH PARIS — Richard B. Harvey, 73, of Norway, passed away Saturday, May 16, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.
He was born to Norman and Dorothy Wilbur Harvey on May 13, 1942, in Rumford. Richard grew up on Stearns Hill in West Paris and attended Hungry Hollow Grammar School. His family later moved to South Paris, where he graduated from Paris High School in 1960. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army.
He worked many years at Swan Supply and the past 17 years at Norway/Paris Solid Waste, working right up until he was taken ill in September 2014.
He enjoyed scratching lottery tickets, antiques, going for long rides, history, animals of any kind, “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy.” What he enjoyed most was spending time with his beloved dog, Max.
He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Margaret Cedroni of Norway; his son, John Harvey and wife, Susan, of Hebron; his daughter, Sarah McAllister and husband, Kevin, of Norway; grandchildren, Ashley Harvey, John Harvey Jr., Ethan McAllister and Emily McAllister; his sister, Sally Gay of Lexington, S.C.; two nephews, Greg Gay and Chris Gay; and his dog, Max.
