FARMINGTON — The Police Department has conducted seven special drunken-driving patrols this year and will continue throughout the summer, according to a news release.

So far, four drivers have been arrested for operating under the influence, according to the department. There will be more checkpoints around the community to deter motorists from driving while intoxicated.

The special patrols are part of the 2015 Evidence-Based Impaired Driving High Visibility Enforcement grant funded through the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety.

To report suspected drunken drivers and help keep the community safe, contact the department at 778-6311.
