ANSWER: The City of Lewiston Code of Ordinances is online at http://www.lewistonmaine.gov/index.aspx?NID=114/. “The copy is provided for information only. Every effort is made to ensure its accuracy. Sec. 14-41. Disposal of excrement. All manure and other excrement shall be disposed of in such a manner so as to prevent it from becoming a public nuisance or health hazard. With regard to dogs on public or private property, other than the owner’s, the owner shall be responsible for the immediate removal of excrement. (Ord. No. 01-7, 5-31-01).”
Sun Spots talked to Gil Arsenault in Lewiston’s Department of Planning and Code Enforcement office at 207-513-3125. That is the office you need to call to report a dog owner’s non compliance with the city’s dog excrement disposal ordinance. When you call, supply as many details as you can. That office will make follow-up visits to the offender if you don’t see results after your first call.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lisbon High School class of 1965 is preparing for its 50th class reunion to be held Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015. Although we’ve managed to keep in touch with most of our classmates, there are a few we’ve lost touch with and Sun Spots seems to be a good way to get the word out, so here goes.
Susan Barnett, Judy Bartlett, Paul Bernier, Robert Cornish, Douglas Dow, Edward Ferrence, Barbara Marr, Edward Pulsifer, Linda Roberge Morris, Robert Roy, and Jacqueline Smith Holmes. If anyone can help us find our friends so we can reunite after all these years, please contact us at lisbonhigh65@gmail.com or call Albie at 207-576-7387 or Sue at 207-784-9840.
We did send out emails and save-the-date cards and if anyone has not received either of these communications, please contact us at the above email address or phone numbers. Thank you, Sun Spots, this truly is a great public service. — Sue Arel via email.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: At the Lewiston Mall there is a sign in the former Planet Fitness location saying that Orange Circuit Fitness will be “coming soon.” This has been there for several months and there does not seem to be any activity indicating that it will, in fact, open soon! Do you know when they are planning to open this location? Thank you. — L.D. via email.
ANSWER: The Sun Journal published an article about Planet Fitness and Orange Circuit Fitness in November 2014 if anyone is interested in background information. Read it here: https://stage.sunjournal.com/news/business/2014/11/20/planet-fitness-closes-new-gym-opens/1620997
Sun Spots called Orange Circuit Fitness in Auburn at 207-330-3000 and learned that no definite date has been set for the new gym to open at the Lewiston Mall. Visit http://www.orangecircuitfitness.com/locations/ for more information.
