1944 – 2015

AUBURN —Anita Faith (Garland) Wiles, 70, of Otisfield, died early Tuesday morning, April 21, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, after a courageous battle with pulmonary hypertension.

She was born on Aug. 20, 1944, in Portland, a daughter of William Preston and Ada Frances (Packard) Garland. She attended local schools, graduating from Paris High School in 1963.

On April 6, 1963, she married the love of her life, Stephen Wiles, at the Congregational Church in Norway.

Early on in her working career she was employed with New England Telephone before taking a position with Seniors Plus in Lewiston as a licensed social worker. She retired in 2008 after 25 years.

She enjoyed camping, shopping, yard sales, the company of her family and family gatherings, and was very fond of poodles having rescued many over the years. Never to miss an opportunity to go out to eat, she was a connoisseur of prime rib dinners. In the 1960s she was Miss Oxford County.

Anita is survived by her husband, Stephen Wiles of Otisfield; two sons, Randy Wiles and his wife, Lynn, of Oxford and Kevin Wiles and his fiancée, Wanda Millett, of South Paris; grandchildren, Corey Wiles and his wife, Shelby, of South Paris, Felicia Peavey and her husband, Matthew, of Oxford, Tania Wiles of Otisfield, and Katrina Wiles of Oxford; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Peavey, Jackson Wiles, Owen Young, Katey Herrmann, and Mikey Herrmann; a sister, Cathy Proulx and her husband, Reginald, of Auburn; daughter-in-law, Susan Wiles of Oxford; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents.
