ROCKLAND — On Sunday, April 26, the Farnsworth Art Museum and the Strand Theatre will present a free family film as part of the children and family programming for the April school break. The film, entitled “Ernest & Celestine,” will be shown at the Strand Theatre in Rockland at 3 p.m. Admission is free to all.
Deep below snowy, cobblestone streets, tucked away in networks of winding subterranean tunnels, lives a civilization of hardworking mice, terrified of the bears that live above ground. Unlike her fellow mice, Celestine is an artist and a dreamer — and when she nearly ends up as breakfast for ursine troubadour Ernest, the two form an unlikely bond. But it isn’t long before their friendship is put on trial by their respective bear-fearing and mice-eating communities.
Based on the classic Belgian book series by Gabrielle Vincent, “Ernest & Celestine” is winner of the Cesar Award for Best Animated Feature and numerous festival prizes. This film is rated PG and is recommended for adults and children ages six and up. Seating will be on a first-come first-served basis.
